Nap Time or Play Time?!

Yesterday I put Parker down for a nap and was excited for my own Sunday afternoon nap...the one day that a nap feels like a must. We were sitting in our room when all of the sudden we heard a banging sound. A few minutes later, we heard a clinking sound. Clink, clink, clink. I couldn't imagine what in the world the sound could be. We turned the monitor on to see if that would give us a better idea of what the noise was. Then, Rich figured it out. He said, "Do you think Parker can reach the bookshelf by his crib?" I peeked into his room to see and sure enough he had. There is a small bookshelf with toys by his crib. Parker managed to reach the toys that were on the top shelf. At first, he got a couple of toys out and brought them into the crib. When he was bored with that, he somehow managed to bring the WHOLE basket of toys into bed with him. He probably played for a good 45 minutes before deciding that he was tired and that he should take a nap. Today, Parker went straight down for his nap right away. However, after a couple of hours I heard the familiar clink clink and realized that he was awake and decided that it was time play! So cute!

This reminds me of when I was about 4 or 5 years old. I was supposed to be taking naps every afternoon. I thought that I was SOOO sneaky when I would play quietly in my room instead of falling asleep. Years later in talking to my mom, I realized that she didn't care if I was asleep - she just wanted some quiet time...So quiet time or nap time - Parker has figured out both.

I knew there was a good reason I don't have James' toys near his crib! At least he was good to just play.

That is soo cute. It reminds me of when I used to fall asleep with my little ponies in both hands.
