Skate Night

While we were in Seattle, we went to my nephew Wesley's skate night for school. I was surprised that they made skates Parker's size, so I just HAD to try them out. Rich was a little skeptical about the idea of renting skates for him. I figured that it would be worth it just to try it once. At first, he HATED them. The idea of wheels on his feet was a little scary. I took him once around the rink and tears were streaming down his face. I let him have a break and helped Heidi take her two kids around (one at a time). I have forgotten how hard it is to skate for the first time. We grew up on skates because our basement wasn't finished. We used to skate or rollerblade from room to room. I even had roller skating birthday parties down there. It took all of our effort to get Wesley and Asher around, but eventually they got the hang of it.

So, once I needed a break from the bigger boys, I decided to take Parker around for a spin. It took him a minute to figure out that he LOVES skating. He even wanted to join in the dancing and do the Hokey Pokey on skates. I was glad that I didn't give up after the first attempt because it was really fun to see him enjoy himself on this new adventure. It was a great first time on skates!

Wow! I am so impressed that you got him on skate. How fun. I wonder how James would do. Probably freak out. :)
