Cathedral Rock

Cathedral Rock
This is what we climbed!Climbing the Mountain

After hiking to Devil's Bridge, we had lunch and then went to Slide Rock National Park. It has natural water slides that you can slide down. The water was a little cold, but we still managed to have a of fun sliding on the rocks. Parker even loved splashing in the water and cooling down. (pictures to come later!)

It was nearing the end of the day and we had enjoyed a fun day of hiking and sliding. We decided to end with a "nice and easy" hike to Cathedral Rock. The book said it was easy so our friend Angie even decided that flip flops would be appropriate for this hike. Boy were we wrong. Apparently, we started at a different trailhead and took a hike that basically went straight up the mountain. We didn't realize this until part way through - but we decided to try it anyway. Rich was the real trooper in all of it because he was carrying Parker on his back. We felt like we were rock climbing in certain parts because we had to climb over boulders, use the foot grooves, and pull ourselves up.

In the end, we enjoyed an AMAZING view and were glad to have taken the hike. I guess that our mistake paid off because we wouldn't have done it if we knew what we were getting into. However, it was a very beautiful and fun hike that I now hope to do again. The only difference would be that I would know what to expect :) Parker slept the entire way up the mountain and woke up just in time to come down (thus the fact that he is asleep in many of the pictures and you can't see him!)

One thing is for sure, I love Sedona. It is so beautiful!!!

What amazing pictures. Now I'm wishing we were coming out there with Matt for his meeting - except for the fact that he'll be there at the end of July! That might have to be a fall vacation.
