Swimming Lessons

Parker and I took a Mom and Tot swimming class to help him get more used to the water. I think it is funny that the older he gets, the more scared of water he is. He now hates to go under and wants to be clutching me all of the time. So, I thought that this would be a perfect solution. He still doesn't like to go under the water, but at least now he thinks it is fun to kick his legs and splash. He no longer clutches on for dear life, so he definitely improved. Luckily, he has no fear of shallow water - so he still enjoys the pool. He even went down the waterslide with his teacher (the traumatic part was having to go with the teacher, not the waterslide part...he has always loved those!)

The funny thing about Parker is the part he hated the most was when the played Ring-around-the-Rosies or the Hokie Pokie. It made him nervous for some reason and usually started saying "go home" at this point. On the last day he got an otterpop and a certificate. This was a perfect ending for him.
