Tonight was one of those twilight moments when you don't know what it is going on...strange things with the phone. I decided to call my mom, so I punched in 5 on my speed dial. Next thing, I know, I get a strange voice at the other end. I was of course confused to get someone besides my mom...and decided to try again. Second attempt, I dial my mom's cell phone number and again get the same voice (a familiar voice...but not my mom's). The person on the other end tells me the phone number that I called, one which I recognized IMMEDIATELY. For some reason, when I dialed my mom's phone number, it called her good friend Kathy Newton...a close neighbor and family friend for my whole life. I decided to call again...same result. I called my sister Mary and had her try calling my mom...who did she get? Kathy. Hmm...
Luckily, my parents have a house phone in Canada and we got a hold of them that way. From our best guess, my mom must have accidentally forwarded all phone calls from her cell phone to Kathy's house. How, you might ask??? Well, you know many phones don't accept blocked calls or restricted numbers? You always get that message that says, "this phone number does not accept blocked calls, please enter ... and your phone number. I guess when my mom called her the other day, she must have typed in the wrong code to show the blocked call...By pushing *72 (instead of *82), and the phone number, it forwards your calls. Quite a funny moment. Good news was that we got a familiar voice on the other end AND now it is fixed. All you have to do to fix it is push *73...
Definitely a funny and strange moment, maybe perfect for Halloween since it is a little eery! Thanks for answering all those calls for us Kathy!!!

That is hillarious! I love Kathy!
Thanks for helping solve the mystery before she got more calls. At least you got to have a conversation with her.
It was great to talk to kathy, mom and you all in one night!
