Carving Pumpkins

Yes, I know it is November...the week of Thanksgiving and I am just barely posting some of my Halloween pages. I told myself that I HAD to get them up before Thanksgiving. So, I have a little work to do between now and Turkey day :) Maybe we have just been enjoying Halloween extra long this year. (Actually, that is probably true since Parker insisted on wearing his costume for a few hours today!)

Carving pumpkins was a huge hit this year. Parker loved it. From the moment I brought the pumpkin home, Parker wanted to make sure he knew where the pumpkin was. He probably would have slept with it if I would have let him :) Little did he know how much fun carving it would be. Parker thought it was pretty fun to pull out the seeds, play with the seeds, "carve" the lid, and tell his Daddy what shapes to make them. He wanted circles, squares, and triangles...pretty straight forward. For the few short days that the pumpkin lasted, Parker kept on pointing out all of the shapes and laughing. He would say things like, "triangle eyes" and then point to his own eyes. It definitely left a lot of pumpkin all over - but he was ecstatic.

After we put Parker to bed, we carved our own pumpkins with our friends Matt and Angie and ate roasted pumpkin seeds. I already knew this about myself, but more and more I can see that I LOVE holidays and I love all of the fun and quirky traditions associated with them. Now that we have a kid - I can finally convince Rich to do a few more of these things with me :)

I love how my kids are the way I get to do the traditions too. Kids are good for dads!
