Rawhide

Rawhide
We discovered a new little place in Arizona called Rawhide. It is set up as an old Western town with shops, trains, stage coach rides, shows, panning for gold, shooting targets, bull riding, petting zoo and much more. When we first arrived, we weren't sure what we were getting ourselves into because it felt at least 10 degrees hotter in Rawhide (it was well over 100). Rich started questioning how much he was going to like the summer here. The staff at Rawhide were great though and kept our spirits up. They continued to play music and perform despite the sweltering heat. One funny comment from one of the workers was "It's an amusment park, look amused!" Luckily, it cooled off a little and we had a great time.

The Petting Zoo

Parker loved the petting zoo. He would look at the goats and then get a huge grin. It took him awhile to want to touch the animals, but he got really excited when I would pet the goat and then help him. The goat decided that my mom was a great friend and wouldn't leave her alone the whole time!

Mechanical Bull
We also enjoyed riding the mechanical bull. This was quite hilarious. I was a little apprehensive after watching the mechanical bull on "Ugly Betty," but this ride wasn't quite as rough. They must have seen my dad read every rule as he was "signing his life away" because he got the most gentle ride (and he even wore the helmet!) My fear probably had more to do with getting sick than actually getting bucked off.

We ended the evening by having my birthday dinner at the steakhouse. It was a fun western environment with dancing, music, and fun. The West really can be fun!

That is so funny. The summer I was pregnant I went with Matt to Phoenix for a work conference. They took us to Rawhide one evening for dinner, karaoke, shooting, etc. It was so much fun. Because we were there at night I didn't realize they had a petting zoo and all the other stuff. Now I want to go back.
