New Year Meme

I found this on a website and thought that this was a good way to reflect on the last year. If you're looking for something to blog about today here's a fun New Years Meme:

1. What did you do in 2007 that you’d never done before?

I started digital scrapbooking, learned how to make many new things including homemade doughnuts and homemade ice cream, I was in a family home evening group with my sisters, I used my sewing machine for the first time (nothing fancy!)
2. Did you keep your new year’s resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
I've decided to start my sister Mary's philosophy on new year's resolutions - make ones that you know that you can keep because then you can feel good about yourself....like "I won't smoke or drink this year." I guess that I can already cross that off my list as accomplished :) Ha ha! In reality, I do better at short-term goals. If I make goals for the week, they are better attained...small steps!
3. Did anyone close to you give birth?
Yep...my sister Mary and sister-in-law Rebecca had babies. I also had several friends have babies.
4. Did anyone close to you die?
Not this year...thank goodness because I don't do well with death. Then again, does anyone?
5. What countries did you visit?
None...I stayed in my home country of the United States. I did visit 2 different states - Utah and New York. We're going for more this year!
6. What would you like to have in 2008 that you lacked in 2007?
It seems like many of these questions are materialistic. My real wish is to have more TIME. I want to have more time to get things done that I need. I want more time with Rich. Let's be honest though, that isn't going to happen while he is still in school. School is definitely a busy time for him. I want time to be able to do fun things with our little family. I just want TIME!
7. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
If I had to choose one thing, it would be that I tried many new things this year...I have gone out of my comfort zone and grown in many ways.
8. What was your biggest failure?

I don't know what it has to be to be a failure...my constant goal is to be good enough...to meet the needs of my family, to be a good mom, to be a good wife, to get the things done that I need to. I think in life there are always things that we need to improve on, so while I wouldn't call them failures, I would say that I need to continue to strive to be better!
9. Did you suffer illness or injury?

Nothing major...just migraines. My migraines came back in full force when I stopped nursing Parker. It was nice to have a little break from them. Parker's biggest illness was rotavirus - NOT FUN!
10. What was the best thing you bought?

We bought a new computer, a new entertainment center, and my $50 King Size Bed
11. Where did most of your money go?

Rich's school!
12. What did you get really, really, really excited about?

All of Parker's accomplishments. I get really excited when he learns something new like when he learned to walk, said his first word, etc. What can I say, I'm a mom!
13. Compared to this time last year, are you:

a) happier or sadder?
b) thinner or fatter?
c) richer or poorer?

a. Probably happier because I am more used to being at home, I have met more people down here, and I love spending time with Parker :)
b. I don't know if I like this question - let's just say I haven't been very good at exercising over the holidays!
c. POORER...those student loans keep racking up!
14. What do you wish you’d done more of?

I probably should have spent more time studying the scriptures!
15. What do you wish you’d done less of?

Well, I spent way too much time on the computer...a lot of it is for good things, but probably spend less time with tv and computers!
16. What was the best book you read?

"Left to Tell"
17. What did you want and get?

I got a new small camera for Christmas which I am very excited about because my old camera was so slow. I got to take several trips to Utah :)
18. What did you want and not get? Oh my list of things I want is way too long - more like a long wish list! I really want a nice big camera, patio furniture, & Rich wants a tv...all things for a wish list :)
19. What kept you sane? Digital Scrapbooking, spending time with friends, listening to music, having GNO for Bunco, and Rich's days off!
20. Who did you miss?
I obviously missed seeing my family and friends that live all over the place now.

what a fun little meme--i might just steal it. i also like your insight on resolutions--while i do set a few "big" ones each year, smaller weekly (or even daily) goals tend to be more doable.

Becca- this is Rich's friend Heidi. I just saw your last few posts and I have been dying to figure out how you are doing those cute pages. Is that digital scrapbooking? Would you mind telling me how you got started? My email is heidimaxfield@hotmail.com

Just if you have a minute, I'd appreciate any info! Thanks!

One question "what's a meme?"
So, what about a bed for $50? Sounds awesome. Well, you too inspired me to digital scrapbook and I'm obsessed. THanks for the inspiration!

Great post Tater - hey, I am going to tend Parker for you one of these days so you can have a date night with Rich! Plan it and let me know! Let me help you with your new years goal of TIME! Oh, and I need to read that book... will you let me borrow it if I promise to give it back to you faster than the Twilight series? ;)

Alright - here are my answers to the past few questions...

A meme: This is anything that you copy from someone else and make it your own. In the blogging world - an idea that you got from someone else and decided to do your own blog on it. (Thanks to my sister Heidi - I actually know the meaning of this!)

My $50 bed...a friend of a friend was getting a new bed. They offered to sell me their 3 year old bed with a beautiful wood frame for $50. This was perfect timing because it was right before we moved into our new house - so now our queen bed became the guest bed - and a king size bed is so much better for those nights Parker ends up in my bed :)

and Kates - of course you can borrow that book...:) I am excited that you are finally coming back after being gone for 6 weeks!!!
