I have been tagged by Martha to write down some of those crazy things about me - what makes me quirky...So, here they are.
1. I like to set my alarm clock and timers for odd times. I never liked setting the clock for 6:30, but was perfectly content with 6:23 or 6:17. Something about those random times makes it all seem better. Now that I have my own personal alarm clock (Parker), I don't get to set weird times quite as often.
2. I walk and talk in my sleep. This mostly happens when I have a lot on my mind or I am stressed. Some things that I have done in my sleep include: taking a bath while fully clothed, hiding in my utility closet, taking apart my whole light fixture, hitting my dad, getting in an argument with my roommate about Brittney Spears, talking about random things - and often getting angry, sleeping on the stairs upside down, locking myself out of my room at camp, etc. I am crazy. On top of that, I have inherited my mom's genes and I can fall asleep anywhere. I used to fall asleep without fail everywhere I went. I don't do this very often anymore, but I am not a happy camper when I get woken up, so Rich will often let me sleep on the couch after I apparently get mad at him 3 or 4 times. He decides to give up...(maybe that is just an excuse though!) So, I'm a weird sleeper.
3. I am VERY organized with some things, but then to Rich's dismay and I am very disorganized with others. For example, I have all of my DVD's organized by category and then they are alphabetized within the category. Each of Parker's toys has a specific place - and I would prefer cleaning up by myself to make sure things are put in their proper place. My clothes (and Parker's clothes) are categorized by item and then by color. However, when it comes to other things they don't seem quite the same - closing cupboards, organizing papers, etc. Rich's comment yesterday was "I'll put your clothes away in the right order once you learn to close a cupboard." Of course he was joking, but that shows how extreme it can be.
4. I am super shy on the phone. It takes a lot to get me to make a phone call to someone that I don't know very well. Even just a reminder call for an activity is difficult. When I taught school, I would sit holding the phone and think about everything I was going to say for a long time before I could finally make a call to a parent. I used to be scared to call my brother Rick to dinner. I thought it was much easier to walk down to the basement apartment and knock because I didn't have to make a phone call. With my sisters, I used to only call if I had a very specific question. Luckily, I have gotten better at that one and find no problem talking to my sisters on the phone. I still struggle making phone calls (even to people I know quite well) - they can call me, but I am funny about making the call.
5. There always is a "Becca moment" wherever I go. Maybe it is my inner desire to get people to pay attention to me. I broke my shoe on our family trip to Canada and walked around without the sole of my shoe for 1/2 the day. On the next family trip to Sea World, a bird decided to poop on me...Fun! I always make a graceful entrance with a fall of some kind. My students one year decided to keep track of how often I tripped. I guess that I like making a fool of myself which leads to my last one.
6. I have the smallest bladder. It was bad before Parker was born, but a million times worse now. I can't jump, sneeze, dance, laugh, or cough without the fear of wetting my pants. Yes, I have wet my pants in several public places much to my dismay.
So, there you have it, 6 quirky things about me. What about you???
