July 30th marked our 5th Wedding Anniversary. It seems like just yesterday, but at the same time so long ago. We were talking about how much has changed in the past 5 years. We would never have been able to guess where we would be at this point in our lives...but we're loving it! So, here are some simple stats that 5 years brings: (an idea from my friend Sharla)
5 years of marriage =
1 adorable little boy
3 addresses
2 college graduations
4 jobs - 2 each
2 different states we've lived in
5 years of school (1 more to go!)
3 years of teaching
2 surgeries
10 states we've traveled to
3 countries we've been in
9 cell phones (same numbers - just new phones!)
5 years filled with many wonderful memories
COMPROMISE...(I loved this idea from Nicole's blog!)
No matter how alike two people are, there are still many differences and compromises that need to be made in marriage. Let's face it, we are different people. So, here are a few ways in which 5 years has changed us:
Rich read the entire Harry Potter SERIES (not only read a book, but a WHOLE series!)
Becca read a biography on Steve Young (and countless articles on sports!)
Rich enjoys listening to Broadway Music
Becca can identify several BYU football players and Utah Jazz Basketball players
Rich learned to love tomatoes on his pizza
Becca occasionally eats a strange concoction of Rich’s, nicknamed “favorite food”
Rich has learned that it’s okay to get dirty from kids
Becca no longer falls asleep during every adult conversation she has
Rich only dresses like a bum on test days
Becca doesn’t complain about him doing this
Rich has learned to cook more than mac & cheese and Ramen
Becca cooks more than just pasta and tacos
Rich has learned drive a little faster
Becca has learned to slow down
Rich is no longer 20 minutes late to everything
Becca is no longer 10 minutes early to everything (usually she’s the one who is late now!)
Rich has learned to love traveling and been to Washington, Canada, Mexico, Oregon, California, New York, Texas, Idaho, Wyoming, Nevada, Arizona, and around Utah in the last 5 years.
Becca will play xbox and wii with Rich (and occasionally play sports games on them)
Rich has learned to love playing games and even become competitive
Becca has learned to tone down the “Tate” competitiveness gene
Rich has learned how to put Becca’s clothes away the right way
Becca has learned how to put Rich’s clothes away the right way
***we are both picky about this one!
Rich is learning how to correctly vacuum and make a bed
Becca is learning how to close cupboards and put pots away properly
Rich enjoys “So You Think You Can Dance” and “American Idol”
Becca no longer watches every BYU football and Jazz game with Rich - just some of them :)

It is definitely fun to reflect on the last 5 years and try to imagine where our next 5 years will take us! You never know where will be!
