Parker has really started to like the idea of Santa. He "talks" to Santa on the phone everyday and asks for yellow cars. This morning he added a red drink to the list...now quite sure where that came from. So, with all of the excitement of Santa going around the house, I was definitely curious to see how Parker would do with Santa this year. Santa made a visit to our ward Christmas party. As soon as he came on the stage, Parker got very excited and started yelling Santa. He waited {impatiently} for his turn to sit on Santa's lap. However, as soon as he did...he decided wasn't sure about it anymore!
While clutching the candy cane, he started thinking this was getting a little better. You have to imagine the scene, however. The entire ward was watching Parker. People thought it was hilarious to see him crying...Then, from the cultural hall, you could hear people calling Parker's name to get him to smile! The candy cane was all he coud think of!
Santa is known to be a "jolly old man," and took the time to talk to Parker. With whimpers, Parker told him that he wanted yellow cars for Christmas and even said "Ho, Ho, Ho!"
Slowly, but sure, he decided that maybe just maybe Santa wasn't so scary afterall...It may not be a grin, but it is a half smile and the tears had stopped...
A family shot with Santa!
On Friday night, we were shopping at the mall and much to my surprise there was NO line for Santa - not even one person. You can't pass that up, so I thought we would try again. Parker was really excited and started yelling, "Santa" Sure enough, I put him on Santa's lap and the tears began to stream. They didn't last as long this time and he talked a little bit to Santa. The best part for him was getting a book from Santa. It sounds like torture, but sitting on Santa's lap is something that Parker talks about non-stop. He tells about the treat, the book, the candy, the cars, the "ho, ho, ho," and even how he cried. He might of been scared, but he still thinks that Santa is pretty great!
Merry Christmas!

The first picture is hilarious. I love the story. I don't think it is torture. We need to teach our kids that Santa is great.
That picture is priceless! Garrett did really well the first time we saw santa this year. The second time, he wasn't too happy. I guess I shouldn't have pushed it :)
That first picture seriously needs to be entered into a contest or something. It is hilarious! I'm glad he was able to calm down eventually!
