Anyone who knows me knows that I LOVE books. I have quite a large collection of children's books (mostly from my teaching!) With so many books, I hope that my kids love books and reading as much as I do. Parker has definitely started taking a real interest in books. Reading a book is one of the things that usually calms him down if he is upset. He loves to cuddle up in my arms and have me read the book. Of course, he tries to help by flipping the pages as we go along. He especially loves his touch and feel books because of the different textures.
It was really cute to walk to walk into his room yesterday to see him surrounded by his books. He was flipping the pages, "talking" to himself, and he even was trying to scratch and touch the different animals. He spent about 15 minutes looking at the books. That is pretty impressive given the short attention span that he has! So, maybe he will become a reader after all!

I love book too (especially kids books) - must be the teacher in us.
James will "read" to himself every now and then. It is so fun. He usually brings me a book and wants it read to him. I love this time - me with James snuggled in my lap or next to me on the couch enjoying a fun book. I know his vocabulary is increasing because of all the books we read. Reading is wonderful!
I found Jack "reading" to himself the other day too. It was like music to my soul. I hope he always likes books as much as he does now.
