Christmas Eve Traditions

On Christmas Eve, we have a tradition of opening one present. This year, my dad presented us with a wonderful present. He scanned all of his slides and made pictures of them for us. It is so fun to have this treasure. Rich and I have carried on one tradition from my growing up and that is to get pajamas on Christmas Eve. Rich has decided that basketball shorts are the way to go for pajamas. The funny thing about Parker's pajamas this year is that they zip up. Why is that funny, you might wonder? Well, Parker can't sleep unless he rubs his tummy. When I bought these pajamas last Christmas, I had no idea that this would be the trend. So, we buttoned the top and had to keep the middle unzipped just so that he would be able to sleep. We have also started a tradition in our own little family of getting a new Christmas book on Christmas Eve. I LOVE books and this is a wonderful way to help my collection grow.

This year on Christmas Eve, it felt like a blast to the past with all of the stockings that were hung up by the chimney. We followed the tradition of putting one stocking up at a time going in order from youngest to oldest. All in all, there were 14 stockings hung by the chimney. This definitely brought back memories of our 12 stockings that hung on so many Christmases growing up. It was a sight to see all of those stockings. Parker wanted to play with the fireplace, but didn't really want much to do the stocking. Poor thing had to please his mom with just one picture :)
