Every year for as long as I can remember, we have acted out the Nativity Story as a family. My dad would always read the story from the Bible and we would do our best to act the part. Some years had more practice than others. One year, we even learned songs to go with the nativity. There are memories of my brother Rick as the innkeeper, Luda (our friend from the Ukraine) as the sheep, Rachel's kiss, Amy as the star, & the famous robe that Greg has adopted. We have many funny memories that are associated with the nativity. Over the years, the roles have shifted signficantly...The brothers-in-law usually take on the role of videotaping and we let all of our kids have the starring roles.
This year Parker was a wiseman. He liked his crown for about half of the time, but mostly he just watched the other children. Probably the highlight of the pageant for him was the fact that Maestro (the dog) was the sheep. That kept Parker smiling (and made others cry!) It was great to have so many cousins to act the pageant out with. I don't know what we'll do next year when it is just the 3 of us here at home in Phoenix. I guess that we'll just have to gain multiple personalities!
