Words, Words, Words

Parker is learning more coherent words each day. He babbles all day long and thinks that he is making sense (he probably is to himself). I have even started to tell Rich that I think he speaks Dutch because he has the guttural sound down great! I have always known that parents can understand their kids so much better than other people, but I find it even more as Parker begins to experiment with more words. For my personal understanding, he has a LOT of words now...for another adult, who knows?

My favorite word that he says is basketball (which sounds more like dasket dah). He doesn't say his B's, P's, M's...basically any letter that you have to close your mouth for. No saying "Ma ma" for me :( He even understands the difference between a basketball, baseball, & other balls. We got him to say baseball and golf ball this week. He definitely likes anything with the word ball in it. Ball was his second word (Daddy being his first!).

Yesterday's new word of the day was "wall." He ran to a wall and said "wall." Then, he would run to another wall and say it again. He did this with all of the walls in the house. I guess that he was trying to reinforce to me that he knew what a wall was and how to say the word. "Wah"

Some of the words and sounds that he says a lot include:
car
go
please
yes
no
cheese
thank you
bye
hi
dog
water
book
teddy bear
zebra
shoe
more
vroom
ssss (for a snake)
ruff ruff
Daddy
na na (mom) - not often though!
wall
ball
basketball
baseball
night night

He'll attempt many words and try to mimic when we ask him. However, it seems like more and more the words are becoming his own instead of just mimics. Get him in public though and he won't say a word! Fun to see him grow up and learn new things!

Jodi and Michelle told me you had a blog. I love to read about your cute family. You are an amazing scrapbooker. I can't believe how you can keep up on it. I decided it was too much work so I shouldn't even start. Maybe digital has its perks. What program do you use? Anyway, I love seeing how you are doing.

Jack can't say ball correctly either. He calls all balls dolls, but it's not because he can't say his b's. Baby, buh-bye, and balloon all come out clear as a bell, but balls are dolls; always.

I love that Parker had to run to every wall around to show off his new found word. Too cute.

It is so fun to see what words Parker knows. It helps me to get to know him better. That is fun that you are keeping a list. Keep it up.

Talking!! So fun.. sometimes I wish Makenna would just open up her mouth and tell me what the heck it wrong. Hehehehhe.. Sorry it is just that she is laying on the floor crying right now. Ohh... big burp, a little spitup... hmmmm she feels better. "Need to burp" would have been much more effective. :)

Fun to hear (read) Parker's vocabulary. Marian's is growing too but is not that extensive. That's fun that Wendy came out. I died when I saw the pictures of Emma--I was picturing a 2nd grader!! Time flies!
